Let me start off by saying that I love the Internet! I love having access to information and I love learning. It excites me when I can delve into something new. The Internet is great tool for learning and getting information. But, it can also be a little overwhelming when you want to start something new. All of my friends will tell you that I am forever trying new ways to lose those last 25 pounds. One week I am juicing, the next week I am working out like a fanatic, then I am into running, then I’m spinning, you get the picture right? The operative word here is TRYING because if it doesn’t fit into my life or seems too much work, I stop doing it. Not because I have lost motivation, but because I didn’t create the program around MY lifestyle, but someone else’s. I want so badly to be at my ideal, healthy weight, and sometimes I go overboard trying to see if what worked for someone else can work for me too. I am not proud of this fact, but it is the honest truth. Anyway, what I have learned from all of this madness is that I need to consider a few things if I want a weight loss program to work for me.
1. It has to be designed around my lifestyle. I am a Mom, work full-time, and work in my business. It needs to be about an hour a day and not require crazy amounts of exercise. It’s gotta be doable or I won’t do it. Everyone can’t spend three months at a ranch losing weight so I gotta fit it in a normal person’s day.
2. It has to be sustainable, long-term. It has to allow me to enjoy the food of my culture from time to time. I am from Trinidad and I want a roti that my sister makes once in a while and I don’t want it to derail me when I do.
3. It has to be moderate. No bland chicken breast every night or egg yokes every morning. I need variety! I also want to be social and eat out with my friends without being the one at the table eating a head of lettuce.
4. It has to incorporate exercise or some type of movement. I have heard people say I lost all that weight and I didn’t have to exercise! My thought is great for you but I like to move. I like to dance and jump on the spin bike. I love lifting weights and feeling my muscles grow stronger. Anyone up for some salsa dancing?? You get the picture.
So what does this have to do with you?
Well I’m glad you asked!!
The theme here is that I have to forge my own path and set my own course when it comes to weight loss. It may be that my best strategy is a combination of things! Juicing, spinning, dancing, an hour of daily exercise, etc.
The same goes for you!
If you see that someone gives you a blueprint for business and it doesn’t work, it may be that you have to go it your own way. Try a few different things and see what works. You may find that the way you do it is unique and different but it produces the results you want. Don’t be afraid to be an innovator. Although proven innovation is safer, the INNOVATIORS are the ones you remember. Think Steve Jobs and the iPhone.
Anyway, I hope you will look at your life and business through a very special lens, YOUR OWN!! Don’t be afraid to take risks and follow what your heart and intuition tells you.
I made my first video today! Hip, hip, hooray!!
Although it sucked! (Was too dark and the quality is not up to par). I am glad I did it. I got over the hump of making one and now I know that I need better lighting and audio. The next one will be even better and before you know it I will have my own unique way of creating videos for my blog. Stay tuned because it is going to be a bumpy ride!
Love,
Franka
